Prior to my ordination, I earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston, enjoying a career for over 20 years in human resources technology and compensation. I obtained a master’s degree in Divinity from the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Austin in 2009.

My journey to the priesthood began with training to become a spiritual director in 2002 and taking vows to become an Oblate with the World Community for Christian Meditation in 2009, the same year as my ordination to the Diaconate. My meditation practice has gratefully taken me deeper and deeper into the heart of God over these years, and I am grateful for the community of meditators in Houston and beyond who have shaped and informed my spiritual calling.

I began studying energy medicine in 2011, beginning with Reiki Level 1 training in Bangkok with Reiki Master Tom Radzienda. I expanded into the energy of yoga to integrate yoga into my Christian spiritual life as a pilgrim and a priest. I obtained a 200-hour yoga teacher certification from the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica while serving as Priest at Grace Episcopal Houston, where we created and began YogaMass in 2016. I later obtained additional Yoga teacher trainings: 300-hour certification in the Pralaya Yoga system in Houston, Advanced certifications in Amrit Yoga Nidra facilitation, and an additional 200-hour certification from Lex Gillan at the Yoga Institute. I am also advanced certified with Sound Universe International in alchemy crystal bowl sound healing, with training in Quantum Energy Healing with Yantara Jiro in 2020 only two weeks before the pandemic lockdown.

It is a great joy to bring the light and sounds of Crystal Tones ™ alchemy crystal bowls into the world and in my home community of greater Houston. Together with my friend CJ Rubenak, we began a new adventure and business, Crystal Bowl Gallery, in June 2020. These bowls have been deeply transformative for me and brought deep energy healing that I didn’t realize I was carrying. I love to share the deeply transformative bowls and their healing frequencies.

In the spring of 2023, I achieved master level certification in the Four Winds Society’s energy medicine practitioner training. This training supports my lifelong calling to practice and guide others to move into healing, wholeness and transformation.

As author of YogaMass: Embodying Christ Consciousness and Yoga Prayer Cards, I am currently working on my next book and exploring new dimensions of embodied spirituality. More to come!

I enjoy my quiet time with my husband Gary and adventure times with my extended family, practicing yoga, taking walks in nature, meditating, reading, and finding beautiful beaches. I am an avid technology enthusiast and love to study emerging trends in technology and AI as well as discover ancient spiritual practices through travel. Gary and I have three grown sons, three beautiful daughter-in-laws, and three beautiful granddaughters. My motto is to Live My Best Life, which I strive to do each and every day. Thanks be to God, Om, Aum, Amen, Amen, Amen.

I look forward to connecting with you, heart to heart. Namaste.

Love and blessings,
Gena
